Gutter Cleaning Tips for This Fall

Posted on Oct 25, 2022

Gutter cleaning is one of those jobs that can be a lot easier to put off. Let’s face it: Gutter cleaning is not fun, and it’s certainly not an enjoyable task. However, you don’t have to suffer through your gutter cleaning alone! Here are some gutter cleaning tips for this fall:

Be Prepared

Before you start cleaning your gutters, make sure you have everything you need at hand. This includes a ladder, a bucket, brushes, rags and ladders. It also helps to have safety goggles and ear plugs on hand in case you drop something or make a lot of noise while working in your yard.

Cleaning Your Gutters

Once you’re ready to clean the gutters, start from the top down by removing any leaves and debris from the top of your gutters. Then use a brush or sponge to wipe down each section until it is clear of debris. Finally, use a hose to rinse away any remaining dirt or grime from the gutter itself.

Fall is a great time to get your gutters cleaned. The leaves have fallen, so you can easily see where they are clogging your gutters. If you don't clean your gutters when the leaves are still on the trees, they can become packed down and make it harder to clean. You also want to clean them before they freeze, which can cause damage to your gutters.

There are many different types of gutter systems, so it's important to know what kind you have before cleaning them. Here are some tips for cleaning each type of gutter system:

1) Metal gutters - The best way to clean metal gutters is with a pressure washer or power washer. A pressure washer won't damage the metal, but if you use a power washer, make sure that you're not using too high of a setting so that you don't damage your gutters. You should also avoid using harsh chemicals like bleach or ammonia in order to avoid damaging them as well.

2) Plastic gutters - Plastic gutters tend to be easier than metal ones because they're more flexible and don't require as much maintenance as metal ones do. However, they do require regular cleaning in order to prevent mold from growing inside them over time.
